Safety Tips for Sleepy Drivers

  • Don't drive during the times you usually are asleep. The period between midnight and 7 a.m. is notorious for drowsy-driving accidents.

  • Try not to drive if you've taken medication that can make you sleepy.

  • Know your limits for how long you can drive at one time and for one day. Break up the trip into safe segments.

  • If you have company for the ride, have that person ask you how you feel during your drive, watch out for rest stops and trade driving duty with you.

  • Think about how you feel. If you are having trouble concentrating, it's time for a rest.
