Here's a handy guide from the American Cancer Society on what makes a serving of vegetables or fruit: A medium apple or orange (the size of a tennis ball); one cup of raw vegetables or fruit (the size of a baseball); one-quarter cup of dried fruit (a small handful); a cup of lettuce (four leaves); a lunchbox-sized container of unsweetened applesauce; one-half cup of cooked or canned beans or peas; and five to six baby carrots.
