How to Stay in Shape

Don't assume that because you're getting older, you can't benefit from regular exercise. Studies show that, in the long term, older adults in all age groups hurt their health far more by not exercising than by exercising. Four types of exercise are important: endurance (increases your breathing and heart rate); strength (builds your muscles); flexibility (helps keep your body limber); and balance (helps prevent falls). The benefits of exercise and physical activity come from making them a permanent habit.
