Jamie A. De Stefano, DMD, PhD earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Chatham College in Pittsburgh, and went on to earn her PhD from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, in 1991. After completing a Postdoctoral fellowship in Glycobiology from the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center at the University of Georgia in 1997, she moved to Augusta and became an Assistant Professor in the department of Oral Biology of the Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry, and, at the same time, attended dental school. She graduated with a DMD in 2001. Then, in 2012, she received her Certificate in Periodontics from this same institution. Dr. De Stefano became a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2013. Currently she is a faculty member in the Department of Periodontics of Georgia Regents University, College of Dental Medicine, where she teaches Periodontics to dental students and residents, is involved in research, and treats patients at the faculty practice.
