The purpose of the Write to Heal creative writing program is to:
Encourage healthy self-expression and other strategies for coping with hospitalization
Help patients, their family members and caregivers to process and work through experiences associated with hospitilization
Facilitate positive self-esteem and positive body image
Promote a sense of independence and feelings of control
Provide peer interaction and sense of community within the hospital environment
Promote problem-solving skills
