Many clinical problems associated with the prostate gland are quite common and may happen to men of all ages. These include prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), impotence, and urinary frequency, hesitancy, and incontinence.

Cancer of the prostate is a common and serious health concern. In 2012, according to the American Cancer Society, more than 240,000 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. It is the most common form of cancer of men aside from skin cancer, and the second leading cause of death from cancer.
