Kegel exercises - exercises performed by repeatedly tightening and releasing the muscles of the pelvic floor, in order to help prevent urine leakage and prolapse (dropping down out of the pelvis) of pelvic organs such as the uterus.

Keloids - smooth, pink, raised, firm, fibrous growths on the skin that form after a skin injury or surgical wound.

Keratinocytes (Also called squamous cells) - the primary cell types found in the epidermis, the outer layer of skin.

Keratitis - inflammation of the cornea.

Keratoacanthomas - round, flesh-colored growths with craters that contain a pasty material called keratin. These growths tend to appear on the face, forearm, or back of the hand. They usually disappear after a few months but may leave scars.

Keratosis pilaris - a common skin condition characterized by small, pointed bumps, especially on the back and sides of the upper arms.

Ketoacidosis - a serious condition that occurs when there is not enough insulin in the body to break down glucose (sugar) for energy, or there is not enough glucose available. Instead, fats are broken down by the body to make energy, and ketones, a byproduct of this fat breakdown, build up in the blood. High accumulations of ketones can lead to coma and even death.

Ketone - breakdown product of fat that accumulates in the blood as a result of inadequate insulin or inadequate calorie intake.

Kidney stone - a solid piece of material that forms from crystallization of excreted substances in the urine.

Kidney transplantation - a procedure that places a healthy kidney from one person into the body of a person whose kidneys are unable to function adequately due to disease or injury.

Kidneys - a pair of bean-shaped organs located below the ribs toward the middle of the back.

Knee reconstruction - surgical restoration of the knee.

Kyphosis - a forward curvature of the back bones (vertebrae) in the upper back area, giving a "humpback" appearance.
