- Achalasia balloon dilation. During this non-surgical procedure, a physician inserts a specially designed balloon through the lower esophageal sphincter and inflates it under x-ray guidance. The balloon disrupts the esophageal muscle and widens the opening for food to enter the stomach.
- Biofeedback for fecal incontinence and constipation. A procedure in which small sensors that are connected to a computer screen are attached to the body. By using computer graphs and audible tones, the system shows patients the muscles they are exercising and lets therapists provide feedback and advice on how to improve muscle strength or coordinate bowel muscles. Biofeedback helps patients learn to regain control and strengthen their pelvic floor muscles.
- Endoscopic mucosal resection. This non-surgical procedure allows physicians to remove cancerous or other abnormal tissue from the digestive tract of patients with Barrett’s esophagus.
- HALO ablation therapy. A nonsurgical procedure for Barrett’s esophagus in which a special catheter is used to remove diseased or precancerous tissue in the esophagus with heat.
- Sphincterotomy. The sphincter is a small opening in the small bowel through which bile and pancreatic juice enters the bowel, However, this can be obstructed by stones. Sphincterotomy is performed to make the opening larger and extract or remove stones.
We also work with surgeons for the placement of enteric gastric pacemakers and InterStim for treatment of urinary or fecal incontinence.
