Black History Month
A county commissioner during the 1970s and chairman of the Coliseum Authority in 1980, Ed McIntyre was elected the city’s first first African American mayor in 1981. He is credited with having the idea for the Civic Center and the Riverwalk, and with being the founder of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials.
