Part of 15th Street Set Temporarily Closed

Starting Tuesday, April 20, city crews will prepare to close part of 15th Street. A small stretch will be barricaded as workers move into the final stages of the downtown St. Sebastian Way extension project. The work will happen between 15th Street's intersections with Broad and Greene streets. The bulk of the hospital traffic will travel a roundabout detour up Broad Street to a portion of the new St. Sebastian Way extension and back down Greene Street. Please note, the closure could last as long as five months.

Patients and visitors traveling from Riverwatch Parkway to Georgia Regents Medical Center should allow additional travel time.

Emergency Department Renovation and Expansion

We are pleased to announce that phase 1 of extensive renovation and expansion of our Emergency Department will begin on August 17.

During the 10-month project, we will temporarily move the traffic and pedestrian entrances/exits and shift traffic on Harper Street onto what is currently the center turn lane.  However, with ample, easy-to-read signage, free valet parking and extra staff directing traffic at peak periods, we will make this transition as smooth as possible for our patients, as well as fire, law enforcement and EMS personnel.

At the conclusion of this project, you will find that the region’s only Level I Trauma Center will be better equipped to care for emergent needs with increased capacity, improved patient flow and shorter wait times, not to mention improved patient amenities.
