CJ Dube and his family could never have guessed the little red wagon that gave him a sense of safety and fun during his leukemia treatments at MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center would one day multiply into a convoy of cheer and well wishes for hundreds of other sick kids.
It all started on his fourth birthday. CJ wasn’t himself. “He had diarrhea and his stomach was hard and protruded,” recalls his mom, Kelley, of Evans, Georgia.
At the pediatrician’s office, X-rays showed no evidence of blockage. That night, CJ experienced pain and shortness of breath, but these symptoms subsided.
